Makeup Effects Course Studio
The Sharp FX studio is located in Springvale Melbourne, VIC, Australia, 5 minutes walk from the Springvale train station and with ample free on street parking. The studio is fully equipped and designed to adapt to an ever changing variety of projects, large and small, with a focus on practicality and flexibility.
Students get a firsthand look into what it’s like to work in a fully operational makeup FX workshop. Working in amongst actual industry projects, this unique classroom environment gives students real life experience in a professional setting.

Russell’s interest in makeup effects started when he was 11 years old. He grew up in a small country town where a natural artistic talent and a great interest in old horror movies combined to inspire him to become a makeup FX artist.
He began making his own garage monster masks until his thirst for further information had him traveling to Sydney to complete both a beauty and prosthetic makeup effects course.
Russell’s first job in the industry was on Babe 2 Pig in the City, followed by three years full time as a sculptor at a themeing company, where in the final year he became head of the art department. When the themeing company closed its doors Russell became a freelance makeup FX artist.
After several years working on various productions Russell started his company Sharp FX where he continues to grow and share his passion for all things practical.
